Passports and Visas
Advance travel planning and early visa application are important, since visa applications are subject to a great degree of scrutiny than in the past. Sweden is a member of the European Union and the Schengen Agreement, therefore, citizens of other EU countries or countries that are party to the Schengen Agreement do not require a visa to enter. It is strongly suggested that all attendees contact their local embassy to determine the travel documents they will need to visit Sweden. For more information please see the Visa Requirements from the Swedish Migration Board.
It is recommended that all attendees take out a personal travel and health insurance policy for their trip to the 18th International Congress in Stockholm, Sweden.
Attendees are encouraged to make use of the Society's social media channels to stay in touch and share information during the International Congress. MDS's social media groups include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
The temperature in Stockholm in June can be around 61 - 70 degrees Fahrenheit (16 - 21 degrees Celsius).
Gratuity and Tipping
Tipping in bars or restaurants is not expected, but is welcomed in instances where you feel the service was more than satisfactory. Porters and taxi drivers also appreciate tips, but tipping is not obligatory.
